NINJAGO meets Maple Sugar Festival

MILUG was back at the Maple Sugar Festival du Sucre d’Erable at Beban Social Centre February 21 and 22, 2026 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the festival. 2026 also marks the 15th year of LEGO® NINJAGO®, one of the in-house themes not associated with an external IP, so we brought the two world’s together with our public display. From a pancake breakfast within the Monastery of Spinjitzu, to Master Wu serving up some tire de neige, to Kai and Nya carving ’25’ out of ice as a nod to the festival’s anniversary, there was no shortage of maple sugar fun throughout the display. Visitors spent a lot of time looking at all the details, with many NINJAGO® fans spotting key elements from the theme throughout our Maple Sugar Festival display. It also raised the question as to whether Japanese maple trees can be tapped to produce syrup — the answer is yes!
In addition to our public display, we had a large area where kids and adults alike could build whatever their imagination could dream up. We saw kids spending a large portion of their time over the weekend creating awesome builds at our activity station.
We always enjoy re-imagining a Maple Sugar Festival display and we received a lot of wonderful comments about our mashup anniversary celebration. We look forward to the challenge again next year! And to those who spent over half an hour looking for three koi fish, our apologies, there were only two (the third was found at home!).
