MILUG hit the road for Cumberland May Days!
MILUG ventured out to a new part of the Island on May long weekend to attend Cumberland May Days Celebration. It was a lot of fun being in a new community and sharing our love of LEGO® with a new audience. The festival was at the Cumberland Village Park and we had a great setup under a big tent. We brought a display, a mini mosaic activity, and a special surprise for our sponsor, Westview Ford.

As always, our display was a crowd-pleaser. We built part of the main street of Cumberland with the May Days parade rolling through town. The colourful floats were all being pulled by Ford vehicles, a fun nod to our sponsor Westview Ford.
The main street was a big hit as adults and kids alike recognized their favourite restaurants and shops. The staff at The Waverly Hotel came by and took a photo of the brick-built Waverly built by Laura, and they made it their Facebook cover photo!

We also built the May Days festival grounds including our own MILUG display and mini mosaic activity area. Can you spot the microscale versions of the buildings our members created?
We also brought a new activity – mini mosaics! The creativity sure was flowing! Once participants finished their mosaic, they were able to add it to one of our two display stands. It was pretty neat seeing all the mosaics together.
There were so many awesome mosaics, including a flamingo, tractor, Canadian flag, dinosaur, rabbit, pint of beer, unicorn, and so many super creative geometric and abstract mosaics. We didn’t anticipate all the vertical building but they turned out pretty neat! See if you can spot some of the cool techniques being used.
Thank you to everyone who came out to see our display and build a mini mosaic. And thank you to the Cumberland Events Society for inviting us and Westview Ford for sponsoring us. We can’t wait to come back next year!
